iPad 2, Galaxy Tab 2, HTC Flyer

While still wondering around for a new tech toy, considering among Apple's iPad 2, Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2, and HTC Flyer, I sent a mail to a kind friend asking for comment, and to my surprise, he returned with quite a professional point of view and thoughtful suggestions. I would like to dedicate this post to his kind attention and valuable time spent in reply. Besides, it's a solid proof to part of our previous discussion in a dinner that sometimes, you don't really have to crack your head for content. :)

This is the content of the email I sent him:
-------------------------------------------
Dear Richard,

I saw this promotion by Maxis on HTC Flyer package, where they selling 2,499 with 24 months rebate and told the prospects at the end of 2 years the device cost only 159.

Yet, I think it is tricky and not worth the money paid, as can get iPad2 at 1899 with data package 70 only, and HTC Flyer seems a bit bulky when compared to Galaxy Tab, even though both on 7" screen but the side bars on HTC Flyer are wider, making it harder to hold on hand.

Any comment on this?

btw, had you seen updated info about online campaign (http://howtze.blogspot.com/2011/05/money-is-in-list.html) and this site (http://www.11bestcreditcardoffers.com/) ?

Regards
How Tze
-------------------------------------------

And this was his generous and kind reply:

-------------------------------------------
Dear How Tze,

I think Ipad2 RM1899 is without wifi model am i right ? because recently one of my friend just bought 32gb with 3G around RM2199 , in my opinion first we need to know which model we want to choose first ( base on your demand of usage ) , second then we look on the promotion offer.

About HTC Flyer is design for easy note everything compare to ipad and galaxy tab because is come with scriber ( digital pen ) Price at Lelong.com.my is around RM 2100 to RM 2500 make sure you get the 3G model then you able to make call .
http://www.htc.com/sea/product/flyer/specification.html

About IPad 2 ultra mobility and advance sensor compare to HTC Flyer and Galaxy Tab , is come with the gyro is good for gaming the price is fix all the place is same price.
http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

About Galaxy Tab 2 is design for gaming and outstanding photo and video taking 8MP back and Front 2 MP compare to Ipad 2 and HTC Flyer this is the highest camera spec. ( haven't launch in Malaysia yet i think , forget about Galaxy Tab 1 because is outdated and low performance )
http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxytab/

My personal Ideal for buying tablet,

1) Spec and OS ( is must able to suit what i need , if possible get highest spec in the range )
2) The Company Unique feature ( Some company able to give the unique design for certain client demand like HTC Flyer with the scriber easy for note you can draw anything you one on any interface )
3) Battery consumption
4) Warranty ( the more Warranty more peace of mind we get , because every touch screen is have a life spend around 10000 touch per pixer, so average 2 to 4 years the screen will run out depend on usage )
5) Price ( Currently Tablet Price is within RM 1000 to RM 2500 depend with model you get )

Rumors : June will start production HTC Puccini is the most highest spec model compare to the latest Ipad 2 and Galaxy Tap 2 is also with the HTC Scriber is sound like HTC Flyer upgrade model .

The best survey side : their official side for spec , youtube.com for review and compare and lelong.com.my for price or other online store

Maxis Data Plan for mobile phone is not unlimited compare to maxis broadband so you better watch out which package you on for, if not is will charge you every kbs after the quota for the plan.

ya about your link , i has slightly went throught is that same with what we discuss that day ?

Thanks and Regards
Richard

Richard, thanks for your time and this post is specially dedicated to you. :)

Energy and Capital: World Energy Demand

Political debate continues to swirl around various types of energy technologies. The dollar ship continues to sink while the Fed adds holes to the hull. Public debt in Europe and the EU continues to mount, putting pressure on both pension funds and traditional safe havens like bonds. The middle class continues to erode. Staying above water can be difficult enough in this environment, let alone trying to turn a respectable profit...

I talk to and know a lot of people in that very situation. Some of them are bogged down by circumstances outside their control, but most simply don't know how to manage money or make a winning investment.

Even worse, they don't know how policy, politics, and world markets affect them, their livelihoods, and their investments.

The first step to financial freedom is knowing what's going on around you at any given time. Right now, we're dealing with high prices for goods because of currency issues and inflation. Understanding what that means for you is a good place to start.

Once you've got a grasp on basic economic and market tenets, you can focus on investments that really grow your capital.

It takes connections, foresight, hard work, and guts to make it happen.

But when you get that first double- or triple-bagger, it's all worth it.

Solid demand growth for energy will foster stable profits for decades. But inside that macro opportunity, there are thousands of micro opportunities — not for stable appreciation, but for explosive gains from oil discoveries, new natural gas drilling techniques, game-changing clean technology breakthroughs, and more.

You can't have an either/or approach; it has to be both.

You can't secure a safe retirement only going after huge wins.

And you can't bank huge wins by simply playing it safe.

But you can find all of this week's profit ideas below.

The Ironies of Osama bin Laden

Terrorism should be viewed as a form of social cancer where an understanding of the root causes is necessary. Many of the terrorists who volunteer to be suicide bombers are intelligent and educated middle-class youths. The civilised world must wake up and understand why these people resort to such drastic action.

It must be due to the perceived gross injustices and poverty prevalent in many countries and regions.

One important issue to resolve would be the historic and present suffering of and the injustices
inflicted on the Palestinian people. This case has often been used by these terrorists to justify their actions.

Once this issue is resolved satisfactorily and fairly, it would also make it much more difficult for the leaders of Al Qaeda or other similar organisations to use it as a rallying call to recruit young people to carry out terrorist activities.

Like fighting any disease, if you remove the root causes rather than just deal with the symptoms, the world should be able solve the problem of terrorism in the long term.

E-Reading Device and Online Ad Spending Growth

Keep your business ahead of the digital curve. Tablets are on the verge of revolutionizing how people browse the web. To the winner(s) goes a ton of money. The question is, where will you be in the food chain? Where are you when the wave is coming? Are you surfing up the challenges or simply watching at the seaside?

Tablet Wars Heating Up, Sales May Jump to 215m in 2015
~ May 31, 2011

Bloomberg recently quoted an analyst from Sanford Bernstein who expects tablet sales to jump from 17m in 2010, to 215m in 2015. That would be a 1,370% increase.

Apple's in the lead. Google's coming up in second, and is about to unveil an army of tablets from manufacturers such as Samsung, Motorola, and HTC. Microsoft is about to limp into the race with its new Windows tablet OS.

Competition from new entrants will cut Apple’s share of the tablet market to 50 percent next year, iSuppli Corp. said on April 21, from almost 100 percent when the Cupertino, California-based company began selling the iPad in June.

Sharp Growth in Ereader Penetration
~ May 25, 2011

eMarketer estimates more than 20 million ereaders will be in consumer hands by the end of this year, reaching 8.7% of the US adult population. By 2012, 12% of adults will have a Kindle, Sony Reader, NOOK or similar device.

Amazon’s announcement that its ad-supported, lowest-priced Kindle is now its best-seller supports the view that people are eager for affordable, no-frills devices. At the same time, Liberty Media’s $1 billion offer for Barnes & Noble was predicated largely on the retailer’s success with the NOOK Color, whose list price is nearly double that of the ad-supported Kindle. Healthy sales at both ends of the ereader price spectrum bode well for continued adoption of this device category.

Nielsen reported last year that about a third of ereader owners share their device with at least one other person, meaning the ereaders reached potentially millions more people than the 12.7-million-unit installed base.

the spring 2011 introduction of the Kindle with Special Offers brought the first ad-supported ereader to market.

ads on the Kindle screen saver and homepage appear to be hitting the spot where the interests of advertisers, publishers, device-makers and consumers converge.”

Online Ad Spend Continues Double-Digit Growth
~ December 6, 2010

eMarketer projects a 10.5% increase in US online ad spending next year, followed by double-digit growth every year through 2014 when spending will reach $40.5 billion.

Increases in online spending will far outpace those for total media spending, which will inch up by 1.2% next year after rising 3% in 2010. In 2014, eMarketer estimates total media ad spending will be $188.5 billion, up from $168.5 billion this year.

Listen to your heart

THERE are times when it is absolutely necessary to take a leap of faith and go with one’s instincts, even against logic. This is not to encourage life-threatening or brash behaviour: go with your instincts, but please – temper decisions with common sense. Surrounding you, chances are there are drones carrying out routines instead of living.

This is a part of what defines our wonderful, startling humanity – maturing past a phase and arriving at that point when one must leap forward into the unknown, or stop learning.

You should just take that leap and somehow, the universe will support you.

I have believed since, that one’s instinct is God’s way of talking to you. I think that all of us discovered this in our own way. It has been said: when you set out to save a life, sometimes the life you end up saving is your own.

#1 Skill You and Your Business Need To Know

The reason 95% of businesses fail - in good times or in bad - isn’t because of products, services, hard work or what’s happening outside. It’s because of what’s happening on the inside of the Business… the biggest of which is not knowing how to SELL… and the toughest sell of all is the six inches between your ears…your “Little Voice.”

The economy is posing challenges for many people with taxes going up, inflation going up and income going down. You can accept this as a reason to expect less in your life for the next few years, or, you can choose to make money no matter what economy you're currently in. Only the people with the right skills will be able to truly succeed in our current economic environment.

Sales solve all problems.

learn how to…

- Increase your sales and your income immediately
- Build a great team that can sell
- Sell anything to anybody in any economy
- Handle any objection from anybody, any time, any place
- Turn “No’s” into “Yes’s” to increase your conversations immediately

200 Years of Remarkable Progress (video)

All across the world we are seeing signs of economic chaos—rioting, inflation, sovereign debt downgrades and massive volatility in the world's stock markets and commodity prices. These are not the problem, these are only symptoms of the problems that are facing almost every country in the world today. In my opinion, these "symptoms" are likely to get much worse than better in the months ahead. You have the choice as to whether these problems will crush you or make you rich.

Because this is a world-wide challenge, it requires an international response. ~ Robert Kiyosaki

The Importance of Having A Sound Business Model

A recent visit to a few websites made me think of putting up this message as a friendly reminder to my dear friends and esteemed colleagues in business.

First, take a look at a few websites that gone "out of business" just recently:

1. Faves.com

A visit to the site on 24th May 2011 shows that the website is no more in business (at the moment), and you're being redirected to http://blog.faves.com (which seems to be currently hosted on blogspot.com - a free service from Google), with some message like:

Faves.com is now offline

We pulled the plug on Faves.com today. I want to thank all of our users on this journey - I'm sorry we didn't end up with a viable business after 6 years working on this. We will be auctioning the domain name, faves.com shortly - I'll post here when we have details about the sale.

2. Mr.Wong Social Bookmarking Site

Read the message behind the lines:

This – and our current page rank of 8 – makes Mister Wong popular with its users; but unfortunately also with lots of gatecrashers ... Automatic bots have registered a couple of thousand spam accounts in the past weeks alone, which led to a very high operating expense for our quality control team and our data base handling.

Therefore from today on, mister-wong.com will only be free of charge to private users with "trusted" status. The "trusted" status will only be given to users who are not using their account for commercial purposes.

3. Kirtsy

A visit to Kirtsy page, and you find only this message:

Why A Sound Business Model

To me, there are a few reasons behind why we must have a sound business model SINCE DAY 1:

1. Business Concept
Most people made the mistake when it comes to the relationship between website, traffic, and money. I would rather have just a single page site selling ebook which makes money than a website with huge traffic that doesn't reward efficiently - i.e. bigger overhead and lower return on investment. That's why I recently put up an article about how to increase targeted web traffic at Best Business Challenge site. The equation is important:

Look around the brick and mortar world, most people make the same mistake with conventional business, thinking that by investing a lot of money to open a shop or outlet then people will come and buy their products or services, and 90% failed in the first 5 years for that.

My mindset is clear: I would rather sell something at $24 and make my cut of $10 rather than sell something at $200 and make that $20 profit, though $20 seems higher profit than $10, but the cost and time for it may not justify the risk-reward ratio I am looking for.

2. Predictable Success
How the business is going to make money since day 1, what is the market size and better, a prospect pool you already have on hand makes more sense for risk-reward calculation.

If you want to be rich, do what the rich is doing. As stated by Robert Kiyosaki when he explained why mutual funds are slow:

the rich have already made their money "prior" to the public being even aware that the company exists. That means the rich often invest with much lower risk and with the potential of much higher returns.

3. A Matter of Survival

How long can you sustain your overhead when you have 0 income for your business? 1 week? 2 months? Chances are you won't be able to make it long if your overhead or fixed expenses are high, and the business cash flow is under a tight condition.

When it comes to Automated Internet Business, I would prefer to start with the safest and easiest ways to make money online.

With Love, Respect, and Much Abundant Blessings Always,

The Money Is In The List

While "The Money Is In The List" - the golden key that most internet guru don't reveal is true to some point, there are more to be done than said.

One of the thing you can do to build your list is to run an effective online campaign, offering your site visitor irresistible offers or incentives to sign up your services, you may also rent someone else's list (such as those from http://viralurl.com, or http://inboxtrafficmachine.com) if you are just too lazy to get into the online campaign thing.

Let's take a look at a real world example: Win Free GPS online campaign.

Case Study: Win Free GPS Online Campaign

In this example, the business create values to the prospects or consumers by offering a chance to win the Global Positioning System gadget from the company. They also giving out valuable information related to the gadget through GPS Bay Facebook Fans Page, organizing online activities to keep intact with the community, besides their occasional newsletter updates.

As such, the business is able to leverage on technology (lower cost, target market, measurable result!) on their brand building and consumer loyalty effort.

Of course, online campaign is not something that ends with 1+1=2. As a matter of fact, it is always important to plan wisely when it comes to business strategy, as competition are fierce in the marketplace. Though the campaign idea was copied just 3 days after the initial launch, the competitors may find some difficulties in phase 2 of the campaign, when the business team up with one of the largest financial institution for the online campaign:

It is the business behind business, and behind the scene strategies that made them unique from the competitors. The copycat may copy the idea, but as they don't have pro-long and well planned strategy, it may take them quite some time to "copy" on the upcoming stages.

Now, check on another war zone - google Adsense publishers' network:

The above screenshot was taken from a new project 11 Best Credit Card Offers, ANY WEBSITE that has related or targeted topic about credit cards will have chances to show up the above INTERACTIVE ads.

As page impressions go on, imagine what is the value you are getting for your BRAND BUILDING?

Again, if your competitor doesn't have the right advice or planning in the initial stage, and the right leverage medium to go for long term fighting in business, then you are sure to see who will be the last one standing!

Of course, there are more to come besides what had been made available to the public. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!

p/s: if you are new to internet business, you may want to know how you can simply organize your online activities to create additional income, before you go further into the creative industry.

MYR1.8b Spent Online Last Year, Set To Grow To MYR5b In 3 Years

Malaysians last year spent RM1.8 billion shopping online, according to results of an online shopping survey released by PayPal. The payment gateway provider estimates that the market will grow to RM5 billion in 2014.

Malaysians for the most part chose to make online retail purchases on local websites to the tune of RM825 million (45 per cent) compared with RM627 million on overseas websites (35 per cent). The remaining RM371 million were made on websites of unknown countries of origin.

Most of the online spend was for airline tickets. This accounted for 21 per cent (RM173 million). It was the same overseas, accounting for 11 per cent (RM72 million). Books came a close second at 10 per cent (RM63 million).

An estimated 1.1 million online shoppers in Malaysia spent an average of RM2,461 per person in 2010.

Malaysians spent more locally compared with foreign sites; on airline tickets, financial products, health and beauty products, clothing, shoes and accessories.

When Malaysians spent overseas, 65 per cent said it was because the products were not available locally. Twice as much was spent buying books overseas compared with domestic websites, as well as on movie, music and games downloads.

The above facts are summarized from a report made by PayPal. Are you able to sense some money from it?

If you are not rich today because you missed the last boat leaving the dock, do not worry, another boat to the land of riches and opportunity is getting ready to sail. The question is, will you be on it?

Creative Industry

This is a complementing article for Comsumption Device, Digital Contents, and Online Campaign

A report about media & advertising found on The Edge Financial Daily, May 19, 2011

Well-nurtured creative economy can be source of socio-economic growth, jobs, innovation and trade, says UNDP.

Some notes from Creative Economy Report 2010:

- Global exports of creative goods and services—ideas and creativity-centred industries such as arts and crafts, audiovisuals, books, design, films, music, new media, visual and performing arts— have more than doubled from 2002 to 2008, reaching nearly US$600 billion.

- Despite the 12 percent decline in global commerce in 2008, world trade of creative goods and services continued to expand with an average annual growth rate of 14 percent.

- Evidence suggests that even during the global recession, people continued to go to cinemas and museums, listen to music, watch videos and television shows and play video games. Even in times of crisis, creative products continue to thrive as an integral part of our lives.

- Developing countries should harness the socio-economic potential of the creative industry to achieve a more sustainable and inclusive economic recovery. Efforts should be placed on:
1. attracting investors,
2. building entrepreneurial capacities, and
3. optimising trade potential of their creative products.

Article source: http://content.undp.org/go/newsroom/2011/march/les-industries-en-rapport-avec-la-crativit-et-la-culture-rsistent-mieux--la-crise-conomique.en

Some notes from the newspaper:

- The key creative industries are the music and film industry, television and radio broadcasting, performing arts and the trade of digital creative content. Accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2008 forecast that the global entertainment and media industry alone would contribute around US$2.2 trillion to the world economy by 2012.

- In the aftermath of the crisis, the firm demand for creative products is a sign that many people are eager for culture, social events, entertainment and leisure. "They are devoting a higher share of their income to memorable life experiences that are associated with status, style, brands and differentiation."

- “If well nurtured, the creative economy can be a source of socio-economic growth, jobs, innovation, and trade while at the same time contributing to social inclusion, cultural diversity, and sustainable human development,” said Rebeca Grynspan, associate administrator of UNDP.

According to the study, the Malaysian government is seeking to boost the industry and has launched strategies in five main areas.

1. the provision of infrastructure facilities,
2. minimising bureaucracy,
3. development initiatives through the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, supporting local producers in the expansion of TV and radio production,
4. reduction of tax rates, and
5. the tightening of intellectual property enforcement to combat piracy.

Step By Step Internet Business

Just posted this thought to my Facebook status, and I guess it's better to note it down here as well, with some additional info:

"I don't believe in overnight riches or get rich quick thing (because it took me >10 years to be where I am today), nor do I believe in invest for the long term for a "secured" financial future (because I don't have many 20 or 30 years time frame for the betting). I prefer investments that make sense - assets that brings in positive cash inflow, every month."

Throughout the years, I have been searching for the best business model for individuals to start with, where the risk-reward ratio is good (i.e. lower risk, higher return). And the answer to date is: Automated Internet Business.

Why?

How much does a domain name and hosting will cost you per annum?
Very very low, somewhere around MYR630 for a good blog hosting site with SEO domain included. Some would argue even got free hosting such as wordpress.com and blogspot.com!

How much you can make out of those 4 types of internet income sources?
UNLIMITED! Your multiple streams of passive income from a single website is only limited by your creativity and imagination!

How did I do?

3 simple steps:
1. Ads
2. Affiliate Programs
3. eBook

First, build confident with lowest investment with content publishing (like blogging, writing reviews, sharing opinions etc). Make money with many of the available ads program such as Adsense (you may want to know why make money through adsense), Info Link, Adf.ly, Nuffnang, Advertlets etc.

Then, try out some affiliate programs such as Amazon, Template Monster etc.

Once you are more comfortable, build your own product such as chargeable eBook and do some online campaign and internet marketing stuff!

Success is a day to day progressive realization towards your own goal. All the best!

The Day After The Dollar Crash

The new normal feels anything but normal. Yet, all around us the rules are changing - about how we make a living, how we care for our loved ones and how we can survive and thrive in these interesting times.

In the book The Day After The Dollar Crash, you'll find some of Damon's ideas about how to get on the right side of the New World Order that is on the horizon. You'll find:

  • Where to focus for personal growth
  • Suistainable and socially responsible investments moving forward
  • How to profit from the coming social changes

It's not just about a falling dollar, or simply inflation and currency devaluation, but a new world order.

The Flying McCoy comics below somehow made me connect them up with the above mentioned situation. They may be funny, but I hope you get the message behind.

Inflation and Currency Devaluation

When it comes to a falling dollar, what the government is telling these people is that the problem is inflation. What the government does not tell them is that the problem is really devaluation.

How so? Take Japan for instance:

If the yen increases in value, Japanese exports become too expensive and unemployment increases in Japan. The more dollars Japan buys trying to push the value of the yen down, the more the US will print, trying to make the dollar weaker so that the world will buy US exports. All this does is make life harder for the world’s workers because they work for a currency that the world is trying to make weaker, not stronger.

In the money war, nations are devaluing their money because if they don’t devalue their currency, their exports will grow too expensive and unemployment will rise. But devaluing a currency means people suffer because a weak currency causes inflation, which makes life more expensive.

So, the choice is do you want a job or do you want inflation? What a great choice.

If you cannot comprehend why your money cannot go further in feeding your family (a very similar situation to 5 monkeys, a banana and the dampened dreams), then it may be time to re-look and re-invest in your financial education.

2011-05-13

It is still not enough
What have made the country fall into the middle-income trap? The recent Singapore general election is a very good lesson to be learned. The Singapore economy has been expanded by 14.7% and it has increased by 5.8% in the first quarter of 2011. However, 40% of voters still voted for the opposition because of price hikes and the increase of living costs.

Be clear on fiscal policies
An increase in prices of daily items further burdens the man in the street who cannot comprehend why his ringgit cannot go further in feeding his family. As long as people can still go hungry in this country, “development” – which is often used to trim budgets and benefit certain individuals and corporations – will continue to be a dirty word.

For all one knows, we could end up having to fork out more than annual taxes with GST. This is where the government must come clean and tell us exactly how its fiscal policies are going to elevate our status to a developed nation, and more importantly assure the most vulnerable of our society that they will be able to put four square meals on the table.

A trained and well-remunerated workforce will result in a better delivery system, especially when it comes to the men and women entrusted with protecting our streets and borders.

Consumption Device, Digital Contents, and Online Campaign

One could be sure that the trend for tablets is here. Congrates for those already in digital content industry as content is real king when intellectual property are given more respects and protections.

Where greed is good and match-fixing rife (interview by Bob Holmes)

From: Where greed is good and match-fixing rife (interview by Bob Holmes),
The Sun, May 11,2011

With Interpol on the way to Malaysia, we talk to Neil Humphreys, author of Match-Fixer and Premier Leech, two novels about the dark side of the beautiful game. He stopped by in Kuala Lumpur to appear on Astro Supersport 3's Bola@Mamak show and FourFourTwo last month.

"I can guarantee," said the source, "that at any one time there are a couple of Malaysians flying around the world with US$100k in their suitcases to pay people to fix matches."

'The source' is one of several that helped Neil Humphreys pen his two football blockbusters.
If you love the game but loathe the sleaze, dodgy agents and even dodgier owners, then Premier Leech and Match-fixer are for you.

Internet Business
* Digital Content
* Online Campaign
Consumption Device, Digital Contents, and Online Campaign)

Investment
* Real Estates
* Precious Metal
* Fine Wine

Jorge paulo Lemann

(http://www.slideshare.net/howtze/how-tze-101-i-thought-you-no-need-to-work)

A spring in Sotheby’s HK auction

The record-high spring auction prices represents:

First, Hongkong’s status as the world’s third-largest auction hub after New York and London.

Second, the tremendous upsurge in East Asians’ purchasing power.

In 2009, China with 477,000 US dollar millionaires with the fastest-growing number of high-net worth individuals while in Hongkong and India, the number of US dollar millionaires soared by 104% and 51% respectively, the World Wealth Report says.

Third, at best, a determined diversification strategy and, at worst, investor distrust of conventional investments.

One indicator of nervousness is turbo-charged demand for gold. Buying of physical gold bars jumped by 66% last year, despite a 27% rise in price. Equally notable, India and China accounted for more than half of global demand for gold.

Since holding gold bars yields no income, its continuing demand reinforces the metal’s status as the ultimate security blanket.
-------------------------
Traditionally, Chinese ceramics have commanded higher prices than paintings.

Paintings may continue to supersede Chinese ceramics. Collectors could find it easier to relate to paintings, particular contemporary art with universal themes, while fine Chinese ceramics made exclusively for the Forbidden City are super-elitist and a tribute to the splendour of China’s imperial lifestyle.
